The GOOD DESIGN Awards – an annual highlight on the design calendar and one of the most prestigious international awards for design and innovation was announced last week. This year, Nienkämper was honored with three GOOD DESIGN Awards for the following designs: Beam Lounge Collection, design: Kenny Nguyen, Nienkämper. Gateway Edge Table Collection, design: Busk+Hertzog. And TOKO meeting pod, design: Carl Gustav Magnusson.
The award is given to the most innovative industrial products of the year by the Chicago Athenaeum, Museum of Architecture and Design, promoted from the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies. Founded in Chicago in 1950 by Eero Saarinen and Charles and Ray Eames, the GOOD DESIGN Awards remains the oldest and the world’s most recognized program for design excellence. The jury, consisting of industry professionals and experts, industry specialists, and trade media, bases its decisions on the same original criteria as in 1950 regarding innovation, form, materials, construction, concept, function, utility, sustainability, and aesthetics.
“It’s an honor for Nienkämper to once again be recognized with GOOD DESIGN Awards,” said Klaus Nienkämper, “We strive to understand customers’ needs, and values, and it is a privilege to be working with such talented and forward-thinking designers that can bring these designs and products to fruition.”
